According to the press release, the prospects of development of the Uzbek banking system remains stable and Banks continue to benefit from a growing economy with well-diversified export revenues that help shield the system from the volatility characteristic of some peer countries in the CIS, notwithstanding a decline in global prices for key export commodities. Given this benign operating environment, we expect problem loan levels to remain stable over the outlook period, though high loan growth will place pressure on the banks’ capital ratios. Banks will continue to report healthy profits over the next 12-18 months, driven by increased lending volume, improving net interest income and robust fee and commission income.
The outlook expresses Moody’s expectation of how Banking system of Uzbekistan will evolve in over the next 12-18 months.
